About the Band . . . |

Born in Coventry, England, Tim Cooper was classically trained in piano from an early age and began playing guitar in rock bands in his late teens. His bands played in the pubs around Rugby. Although a stubborn and proud atheist, an encounter with the Living God in the mid ‘80s convinced Tim that someone much greater than he had better plans for his life. So, one summer’s night he drove with a friend to a field overlooking the city. There, kneeling in the dark of night, Tim asked Jesus to come into his life. In submission to Christ, Tim set aside his music and didn’t play again until he knew that it would bring glory to God. The desire of his heart was to write and produce new songs that would honor God and not himself. Tim moved to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1990 and was the Music Director and worship leader at Heartland Open Bible Church for over ten years. God has given him many new songs, all of which have been born during intimate times of praise and worship. His first CD, “Your Ways are Higher,” was released in 2001. It boldly proclaimed the power of the Blood and man’s need for salvation through such songs as Your Blood, Cry From My Heart, Freedom and more. The title track has been sung regularly in a number of churches across the nation. Arms of Love, came out at the end of 2003 with a joyous declaration that no matter where we are in life, we need only turn back to God and He is there with open arms, reminding us that we are His children. Several of the songs have had Christian radio airplay and Tim continues to receive requests from various churches to use his songs in worship. The third CD was released in November of 2007. Tim Cooper & Friends have been called to take praise and worship beyond the walls of the church. While they enjoy leading worship at conferences, retreats and special services, their focus has been on taking the music into prisons, coffeehouses, outdoor events and other non-traditional settings in the hope of sharing the Gospel with the unsaved. The songs are rich with the Truths of Scripture and draw a diverse audience that doesn’t really fit into a specific category. The style ranges from electric rock to gentle ballads with rich harmonies, with the lyrics touching the hearts of those who hear. Tim Cooper’s songs are filled with Truth, hope and life and played with enthusiasm and passion. Tim’s dry English wit and the band’s interaction with the listeners results in a fun and lively encounter with God. |
